Our History

DML was established in 2011 by sisters Deirdre and Laura as a specialist training provider in the healthcare sector, with an initial emphasis on the private nursing home sector.

Deirdre, because of her qualifications and background in nursing, provided training in Care Skills, Nursing Home Management, and Patient Care, while Laura provided Manual Handling/ Patient Moving and Handling training, administration, and client liaison. Deirdre then received an opportunity to change career direction and it was at this point that DML Training became focused almost exclusively on Manual Handling/ Patient Moving and Handling Training.

It was evident that this type of training was not well catered for in the home care sector and it was felt that there was a genuine need for training specifically targeted at the needs of this sector rather than simply regarding it as an adjunct to general Manual Handling.

From these small beginnings the business has consistently grown over the intervening years to a point where it could sustain more trainers in Manual Handling/ Patient Moving and Handling. The business changed hands in 2022 and programmes in Infection Control, Care Skills, Basic First Aid, First Aid Responder, Dementia Care and Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults were added to the suite of training programmes on offer.

Today DML Training is led by Majella who looks after the accounts and back office and Jennifer who is our training coordinator. We have 9 people working in the business offering a blend of Virtual training, Instructor led online training and Classroom training at our training room in Dublin City centre as well as on-site training at locations nationwide.
